Cyber Security in Critical National Infrastructure Organisations: 2022 (Part 2)

What is the level of cyber maturity among UK Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) organisations in 2022?

Digital transformation efforts have accelerated over the last year and a changing threat landscape has driven significant cyber security investment within CNI organisations. In light of these trends, these organisations are right to ask what this means for their cyber maturity and how these cyber security improvements can help support their other business objectives.

To answer these questions, Bridewell commissioned research among 521 UK cyber security decision-makers in the following industries:

  • Utilities
  • Finance
  • Transport and aviation
  • Government
  • Communications

Our research found that while CNI organisations are confident in their cyber security, there are still opportunities for them to increase resilience, build new capabilities and maximise ROI from their cyber security budgets. These findings have been summarised in Part 2 of our research-report. Part 1 of the report is available for download, here.

Among Our Top Findings:

89% of CNI organisations describe their cyber security strategy as secure

62% say their current cyber security architecture is not fit for purpose

62% say it takes too long to detect and respond to threats

81% expect cyber security budgets to increase next year
